Piscator World Map Professionally Framed Absolutely Breathtaking Detail and Color Holographic Foil Artwork Over 35 separate sceens in vivid detail. "Among the many great Dutch map publishers active in the seventeenth century were the Visscher family, begun by Claes Jansz Visscher (1587-1652) and continued by his son Nicolaas (Piscator jun. 1649-1709).....Although mainly art dealers, the Visschers were prolific publishers, producing individual maps and atlases made up to their customers specifications. They ar commonly regarded as second only to the Blacus among Dutch mapmakers for the high quality of engraving and decoration and the geographical accuracy of their maps. Their world maps are particularly outstanding not poly as maps but as works of art. This "Commander's Map" from the seventeenth century shows in the four corners the cavalrymen of Commander Ninus (conqueror of Asia), Cyrus Maior (founder of Persia), Alexander the Great and the Roman emperor Julius Caesar. The borders on the left and right show depictions of the 12 months and the illustrations on the foot are portrayals of compassion."
