1940's Mammy Brooch from Gone With The Wind Original 1940 LUX Soap Sponsored Brooch Pin Book Piece, Warman's Jewelry 4th Edition, Page 166 Turquoise, White, Goldtone Colors Stamped Brass, Faux Pearls, Glass Cab Size is 1-7/8" Diameter Safety Clasp Unmarked but original was made by Ricarde of Hollywood Very Good Condition This wonderful old brooch from the 1940's was a promotional piece for the movie, "Gone With The Wind." It is a replica of the brooch Mammy (Scarlett's maid) wore in the actual movie. It was replicated for Lux Soap to promote the movie. Back then, if one sent in 2 Lux Soap wrappers plus 15 cents, you were the lucky recipient of this lovely piece. This information is per Warman's Jewelry 4th Edition , page 166.The turquoise glass cab is great. The faux pearls look nice as well. No problems seen with the entire piece but the center circle moves slightly when the pinback is touched because the rivet holding things together allows a bit of "play". This is a beautiful souvenir of an epic movie!***Please see all photos and ask questions.
