Up for your consideration is this lovely, vintage, very early, Imari, large, 14" in diameter and 3 1/2" deep bowl. The center has two vividly colored peacocks, with cobault blue and rust red and yellow peacock feathers, with yellow, rust red, and rose colored designs all over the bowl. These colors are known in the Imari porcelin. The outer edges are partictioned off in six sections. Three of the sections are a roses design, and the other three sections are another type of flowers. The entire bowl is highly glazed. It cannot be appreciated in the pictures as it is in person. Ths is one of the most beautiful and unique Imari pieces of artwork and craftsmanship that I have ever seen. It is large enough to use for mostly anything. It reminds me of an Italian pasta dish that my grandmother used to cook a couple of lbs. of pasta for the entire family and it would fit into a bowl such as this. Actually, this bowl was not used for any cooking or serving. My aunt had this bowl in her china cabinet since I was a very young girl and I always admired it as a child. When I got older, and got my own home, my aunt gave it to me since she knew I loved it so much, and I kept it in my own curio cabinet on display for the last twenty years. That is why I know that this fine bowl was around from at least the early 1940's since I am over sixty now and I remember this bowl since I was a very small child, Unfortunately, I am now moving into a small condo from a large home, and I have to downsize and I need to let go of a lot of my belongings. I only hope that whoever bids on this bowl enjoys it and loves it as much as I did. I am not placing a reserve on this bowl and my starting price is very reasonable. I Prefer Paypal, but will accept a Postal Money order, but no personal chekcs please. I also suggest that the bidder opts for insurance on this item. It is not included on the shipping cost, but if you want it added on please let me know before I ship your item and I will add it into the invoice. The cost of insurance depends on the price that the bowl sells for, tfore, I cannot add it on ahead of time. I do package very carefully to ensure a safe delivery to your home, but yet the Post Office still is not that reliable and I think insurance would be a good idea for such a beautiful and fragile item such as this. Thanks for looking at this item.
