You are bidding on a monumental Federal Period antique Triple Decker clock manufactured between 1848 and 1859 by Birge Peck & Company, of Bristol , Connecticut . John Birge was born in 1785, and died in Bristol , Connecticut , in 1862. He was an important figure in the American clock industry, and had many successful partnerships through out his career. The Birge Peck & Company was known for producing high quality Triple Decker shelf clocks. This clock is in excellent condition. Its distinguishing features are as follows: · Hand painted wood dial · Beautifully carved top splat · The original Mahogany finish has been preserved on the Clock case and columns · The 8-day strap brass weight driven movement is in mint condition · The hand painted reverse glass tablet in the lower door and the artwork in the center tablet are original · The manufacturer's label inside the clock is in fine condition · The approximate dimensions are: Base 17", Height 38", Depth 5" · Historical Information The Triple Decker clock was owned by a prominent family in Niagara Falls , New York for about 50 years, before it was acquired by its current owner in 1978; tfore 2 owners can account for 80 of this clock's 160 years.
