is another quilt I am offering at a 5 day auction and all the proceeds will go to my great niece who is 7 years old and has a brain tumor. She will leave California next month and spend 6 weeks in Boston undergoing "proton radiation". It is a costly treatment and family and friends are doing what we can to help a wonderful little girl. This quilt is a 1930's-40's flower garden quilt with a purple theme. All flowers have outer hexagons done in puurple so the quilt has nice uniformity. Many of the prints used in the flowers are feedsacks and maybe some vintage cottons but I think they are actually all feedsack prints. Really pretty prints. .Hand pieced and hand quilted all the way around each hexagon. each hexagon is just 1.5" wide so that is a lot of hand quilting and makes for great testure as well as insuring the batting will always lay nice and flat. The batting is a very thin cotton. Measures 76" x 84" and drapes a full bed nicely. The binding is purple and pencil thin and in great condition, no wear. Nice deep scalloped edging. Only two problems to report with this quilt: T is one worn purple hexagon on the outer third of the quilt, that is just one hexagon, not the whole flower. I have shown a closeup, last photo, its hard to spot! Also at some point the quilt has been washed and you can see t is an area with light redish purple color bleed. Could probably be treated out but not sure if its worth the trouble--does bleed through on the back too but that is generally not an issue. Clean and otherwise stain free. Really a beautiful quilt!
