Welcome to Marie's Vintage Perfumes. This store is a collection of vintage perfume bottles from the estate of Marie-Louise Fredyma, my mother who passed away in 2010 after nearly 70 years in the antique business. Marie's perfumes were a special place in her collection of antiques and vintage items and are now offered for sale as part of her estate.

Description:

2 Vintage Grenoville Byzance Baccarat Perfume Bottles. Bottles are opaque black glass bottle that appear as dark blue with labels marked "Byzance Grenoville Paris". Bottles are stamped "Made in France" on Bottom. Bottles are heavy glass. Bottles are empty of original perfume.

Left bottle is 3 1/4 in height and 2 1/2" in width. Right bottle is 4" in height and 2 3/4" in width.

E arly perfumes often used Baccarat bottles in their production which are often sought by vintage perfume collectors. Bottles prior to 1936 were not always stamped Baccarat. See /Dating-Vintage-Baccarat-Perfume-Bottles_W0QQugidZ10000000003949353

Background Grenoville:

Grenoville is one of those great "obscure" French perfume houses from the 20th century; it was originally established by Paul Grenoville in 1879. The shop was initially located at 20 rue Royale, in Paris. Business did very well for many many years and the perfumery passed down through numerous hands while producing a prodigious list of releases throughout the teens and 1920s. In 1943 the company even acquired another company, the smaller Parfums de Clamy. Despite surviving two through two World Wars, Grenoville gradually declined. After 1940s, there were fewer releases- one dating from the 1950s (Esbroufe) and finally XX Vincent was released in 1971.

Byzance was a decadent 'new' Gardenia scent released in 1926 and heavily promoted by Grenoville.

Condition:

Perfume Bottles are in excellent condition with no cracks, scratches, or chips. Bottles are empty of original perfume. Labels are in fair to good conditon with some fading and wear.
