Vintage Griswold's Family Salve in Orig. Paper Wrapper

Description:
For your consideration is a 1 1/4 oz. stick of C.G. Griswold's Family Salve in its original paper wrapper. This famous vintage drawing salve and remedy for corns, insect bites and more "For Man or Beast" was made from the mid-1800s until 1955 when it was taken off the market because it contained Oleate of Lead as well as Olive Oil and Rosin. Originally made by Griswold himself, later by The Griswold Salve Corp. Hartford CT and distributed by The Sisson Drug Co., the salve was once a common staple remedy in American homes. It is a stick 3" in length and 3/8" in diameter that looks very much like a Tootsie Roll wrapped loosely in a paper printed with instructions. To apply the salve, the stick is heated and spread on a bandage put over the wound and left for three or four days. This stick has been barely used, perhaps once or twice-- most of its contents remains. The paper wrapping [the 152nd Edition], is creased and chipped w its edges have been folded and slightly discolored although intact and completely legible. This collectible patent remedy is a superb addition to your collection in excellent condition. This item is from an estate. Other items from this multi-generation family collection can be seen in my current auctions and those in months
