Up for sale is one Vintage Grocery Store Stoneware Pickel Barrel Topper or Bowl. This was used in the late 1800's to 1900's in grocery stores. It was used to display different items for sale that were packed in barrels. The store would dip into barrels and place items from the barrel into the bowl and this would make it easy for the store to sell and display. Then the store would place topper bowl on top of the barrel ready for sell. I do not know the stoneware maker but it could be Red Wing or Western Stoneware Company, you take the guess on who. It is marked Reid, Murdock & Co. Chicago Boston New York Pittsburg on both side of the bowl. It measures about 15 " at the lip, 13 1/2" on the 1/4" thick glass 8 sided lid, 12" diameter bowl, 10" bottom, and 8 1/2" tall. It is in great condition for it age, only a small hairline crack in the neck as shown in the pictures. This piece was in my collection and would make a great piece for your collection or display. I accept M.O. or PAYPAL. S&H $24.50 to 48 States out of country extra.
