VOODO SKELETON HAND PUPPET. I am no expert on this antiquated & vintage stuff, so I'll do my best to describe things best as I can. Items skull and both its hands are hand carved out of wood, uncertain as to wood type or year dating, but judging by its character and present magnificent old age markings, everything appears natural and primitive as indicated by its own hand sewn costume, hand carved face markings. I acquired this item 30 years ago, circa 1970's, while I was traveling thru foothills of Haiti, in what then was then known as primitive native market store. I traded it from a poor old grey haired Haitian woman. This item is hand painted, as the years of wear now so indicate, and judging by all the subsequent colored paint layers now appearing by them showing thru each layer of previous paint, this item looks to be very old indeed. There are 2 carved hands from wood, item has hand drawn lines in hands to indicate skeleton. Both Eye sockets are deep and asymmetrical, same applies to the nose nostrils asymmetric, mouth and wooden carved teeth appear to be hand carved from same piece of wood is asymmetrical. Head has an eye hook inserted at top of skull, perhaps this was used for hanging in public display? THIS item is very old, very eerie, and scary indeed. It exudes and aura about itself that is downright creepy, makes my spine shiver. View pics and see item for yourself. This is not a prop, but vintage or antique.
