I am listing several collectible items from an Estate of a family that originally homesteaded on our local Coville Indian Reservation in the 1920's This item is a Hamley Co. Silver inlay horse Bit The family states that it is over 100 years old and that the original owner road horseback from central Oregon to his homestead in Eastern Washington. It has been passed down and used by family members who ran cattle and horses on their ranch on the Reservation. It has tooled silver inlay down both cheeks, and across the bottom piece. It has a spade bit with a roller and original rein chains. On the back of the bottom piece is stamped "Hamley Co." twice All pieces appear to be intact, the steel is a bit rusty with some finish loss especially on the mouthpiece, and the silver has been cleaned but needs a good polishing, The large knobs on the cheek pieces have some minor dents, the small knobs on the bottom piece have some dents and some finish loss as does the center knob on this piece-some of the silver is missing (rubbed off?) This bit has been used as a working unit-not a show unit. Also included are a newer set of reins and little used headstall -both good leather. The headstall looks like it would fit an average size horse-t is no brand or size stamped on it. I do think that they need oiled and cleaned, but they are good condition read more
