*** CARVED IVORY CHINESE DOCTOR'S DOLL *** You are bidding on a vintage hand carved ivory Chinese Doctor's doll. It is 8-1/2" in length and is in magnificent condition with the only flaws being natural flaws in the ivory. Many years have bleached the color on the front to a natural near white color while the reverse remains a light cream color. We purchased this in China around 30 years ago and it is probably from around the turn of the century. The doll contains fine detailing in the hair, fingernails, shoes and fine scarf. Many hours went into the making of this doll. People call these doctor's dolls by a variety of names, but they all served the same purpose. Chinese women were very shy about disrobing for a physician, so would refer to the doll and point to their malady!
