This is a Vintage Hand Carved Miniature Wooden Tundra Swan from Cambridge, Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake Bay area is known for its diversity of water fowl. The snowy white tundra swan breeds in the Arctic and migrates many miles to winter on North America's Atlantic and Pacific coastlines, bays, and lakes. The eastern population frequents the Chesapeake Bay and North Carolina, while the western population typically winters in California. These animals fly some 3,725 miles (6,000 kilometers) round-trip between their distant habitats, and make the daunting journey twice each year. This vintage Hand Carved Miniature Tundra Swan has a detailed sleek line silhouette. The vintage miniature is signed by the maker/artist. This Miniature Tundra Swan miniature is in excellent condition and the has beautiful form and has a bright clean snowy coloration. The Tundra Swan measures 6 1/2 inches long and 3 inches wide and 4 inches in height.
