This is a beautiful vintage pyrographic cabinet. I estimate it to be from the 1920's. It is hand made and hand decorated with hand painted pyrography. This would be a great spice cabinet or medicine cabinet and is absolutely gorgeous. The wear on the edges of this only add to it aged patina and enhance it's beauty. It's single door is hinged and has a single solid brass knob. Hinges and catch closure work great. T are 3 shelves inside. It is decorated on th front, top scallop piece and sides. T is a bit of staining on the inside and few holes in the back from being screwed to a wall, none of this detract from the beauty of this piece. 17" Wide 26 1/2" Tall 5" Deep It was at one time mounted on a wall and painted around it so t is a bit of aged house paint around a couple of the edges. T is also a few spatter spots on the top. Again, neither of these detract from the beauty of this piece. The cabinet is a beautiful aged honey color and the vining floral design is hand colored in yellows and greens the scalloped decorative top piece has the same design. Pyrography means "writing with fire" and is the traditional art of using a heated tip or wire to burn or scorch designs onto natural materials such as wood or leather . Burning can be done by means of a modern solid-point tool (similar to a soldering iron ) or hot wire tool, or a more basic method using a metal implement heated in a fire, or even sunlight concentrated with a magnifying lens .
