Vintage Egyptian Textile Art-Woman and Camels This is a wonderful vintage Egyptian textile art. This is hand crafted and stitched in an embroidery patchwork style. There are various pieces of cloth that have been cut and sewn to create an Egyptian scene. This work is quite intriguing. This has a covered Egyptian woman in the middle on top of a horse. She has a flag in one hand and what looks like a message in the other. She has a man on camelback behind her which is attached by a rope behind her. They are both approaching another man that has a staff in one hand and a rope with a loop in it being thrown towards her. Could this be an arranged marriage and this is the exchange? I love that the various fabric pieces came from clothing and have been re-purposed in this wonderful piece. This is on a natural linen fabric and is marked on the back "Made in Egypt No 16". This measures 41" x 18". I would date this to the late 19th century. I am listing other Egyptian textiles today, so check them out and save on combined shipping. Condition: This is in good condition considering the age. There is some fading. It may have been brighter when it was first created. Rustic, primitive style.
