This auction is for a fancy hand crafted sterling silver belt buckle and belt tip. The buckle tip features flora leaf relief work with engraved detailing and the background has been engraved in a hatchwork pattern. It is good condition - very little evidence of wear. The buckle tongue plate offers a diamond shape area w initials could be etched or engraved. T is a little indent w the buckle tongue rested. Running the length of the buckle are 2 raised areas which feature flora leaf work with engraved designs... worn down abit from use, but still a lot of detail showing. Nice line work! The buckle measures approximately 1 5/16 inches long by 1 3/8 inches wide at widest part and 1 1/8 inch at back. The inside opening measure 1 1/16 inch...... A 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch belt would fit nicely. The tip measures 1 1/16" in length, 5/8" (outside width), 1/2" wide (inside) and is 1/4" high. The opening in the tip is 1/2 inch wide. The leather would need to be 'tapered' to fit in tip as the top part of the silver tip is a honed arch shape curve (hand wrought piece). The bottom portion of tip is an attached plate. This is a vintage high quality buckle and tip which was handcrafted in Mexico .The back is stamped STERLING(worn some) and MEXICO. The pieces, together, weigh (troy) 1 oz 23 grains per my fine metals scale and 1.1 oz per digital usps read more
