This item turned up in a tin amongst a lot I bought at auction. So there was no clue as to what it was, though we quickly realised it was a jigsaw featuring a Heath Robinson image. My wife has painstakingly done the puzzle, and found it to be missing some 7 pieces. I guess that there must be over 400 pieces in all that sit together side-by-side rather than securing to each other. Some interesting shapes - all in all an old-style puzzle, but I have no idea of its age. In fact I haven't even been able to find an image of it, the puzzle, nor of the actual cartoon online. It must therefore be quite rare. I have found a different image for a Heath Robinson "Little Nipper" cartoon. It seems that he was commissioned to provide advertising images for Proctor, who made Little Nipper mouse traps. Presumably, this cartoon on our jigsaw is an image from the same series. One of my photos shows the back of 3 pieces, which might help you decide how old it is. The image of an old tank suggests the original dates from the 1920s? The jigsaw measures 48cms x 35cms when completed. We shall send a guide picture with it to the purchaser. My wife much enjoyed doing it - it is a really fun item, and we wished we could have found out more about it - who made it, when, etc.? Any help from out there appreciated!
