Although the blanket might seem gray, or gray-brownish, in some of the photos, including the close-ups, the actual color is brown, with off-white stripes. The blanket, in spite of being relatively small, 82" by 64" (almost the same size that the queen bed used for the photos, which measures 80" by 60") weighs 5 lbs and 2 oz: it is made of compact, dense, napped wool.It has a stamp, which is unreadable (check pic # 4), no other prints and no labels. Because of this detail, we speculate this might have been a military issue, although likely not an American military item (maybe Australian, maybe Israeli, we really have no idea). We are not sure any company would sell blankets to the (civilian) public with a stamp on them.Although napped, this item has a lot of white hair that, at first sight, seems acquired, maybe from a dog, for example. But when we tried to remove those white "hairs", we found they were part of the fabric, as you may notice on pic # 6, where we show a "hair" being pulled with twitzers so you see they belong to the fabric.Important note: we have been contacted by a kind, very helpful eBayer who knows about vintage military, who has informed us this is an authentic Italian military blanket , given its look, the stamp, and the fact that it weighs 5 lbs.
