Just in time for Christmas, A DARLING DUTCH COUPLE figurine planters by Hedi Schoop. The male is 10" tall and the female 11". They are a beautiful apple green, lime green and reddish brown - it was difficult to capture the true color in the photos. They are in EXCELLENT condition. The only problem I see is a small 1/4" chip along the base of the male. T is crazing on both figures. Hedi Schoop's name is on the base male. The female is unmarked, she may not even be Hedi Schoop as this pair typically has a different female figure . The colors on both figures match perfectly however. Both figures have a built in flower or plant vase which opens down into the figurines. This set displays beautifully and is an especially cute splash of color in a retro kitchen. I have another similiar pair on another auction right now too. They would look really cute together. Hedi Schoop was one of California's most popular and imitated ceramic artists of the 1940 & 50s. Her work is very collectable & contines to rise in value. The male and a different female can be seen in Mike Schneider's California Pottery book (1995) on page 119.
