Offered for your consideration is a rare and unusual vintage Swedish fighting knife from J.A. Hellberg. If you're an enthusiast or collector of fine vintage knives and have not yet experienced what these vintage Swedish knives have to offer, you're really missing out on some of the best made knives of this era. These knives have a very distinctive feel that is instantly recognized once you've experienced it. It's a completely different feel than U.S. or German made knives. In my opinion they are among the best feeling and best handling factory knives of the first half of the century. I have actively collected Swedish knives for many years and this model has some unusual attributes. First of all, I describe it as a fighting knife because it is quite a bit larger than the standard sized hunting knives offered by Eskilstuna firms. The design, blade profile, and build are more consistant with that of a fighting knife. The two primary makers of this type of knife from Sweden during this era were Pontus Holmberg and J.A. Hellberg. Both were located in Eskilstuna, Sweden. Eskilstuna was one of the primary knife centers of Sweden and was basically the Swedish version of Sheffield or Solingen.
