NO RESERVE! Up for bid is a neat vintage Henderson Ames Co. of Kalamazoo, Michigan military officer's sword in the original steel sheath or scabbard, ca 1893- 1923. We got this at an Estate Sale in Lincoln County, North Carolina, but the exact age and officer EL Davis is not known. The sword was found in a basement and the people that owned the house didn't even know it was there and didn't have any information to share with us. Maybe this was a presentation sword or something? We just thought it was a great find and it is in very good original as found condition. Please excuse any glares, white spots, and shadows. The sheath is in very good condition with some surface rust here and there mostly on one side, the sword's brass guard needs washed and polished, and the wood grip is black and I see some minor crazing like and a tiny wood chip on the index finger spot. The blade is fancy engraved with floral scrolls, U.S.flags, one side has U.S. other side has the E. Pluribus Unum American eagle, and other decorations. The sword itself measures approx. 39 1/2" long from tip of blade to tip of handle, blade itself is approx. 34" long by 7/8" wide and approx. 40 1/4" long in sheath. The blade is marked near the handle; THE * HENDERSON * AMES CO. * KALAMAZOO * MICH. and the sheath has 11 on the two rings and CAPT. E.L. DAVIS.
