HISTORY & DESCRIPTION: Up for auction is one vintage ALL original Eames Herman Miller Shell (LAX) Lounge Arm Chair in rare Cantaloupe Color. This chair was designed by Charles Eames andmanufactured by the Herman Miller Furniture Company and Zenith PlasticCo. in Venice California in the 1950's. This 100% original 2nd generation shell is produced from fiberglass-reinforced plastic in beautiful and very 50's true Cantaloupe color with LOTS of FIBER. This color is one of rarest colors of the Eames fiberglass shells. The shell is known for it's comfort and durability. The shell has the large mounts, but the rope edge was no longer in production. These early wide shock mounts are still very strong, very clean, in excellent condition with no "bleeding" through the seat at all and have not been reglued. The shell is super clean, shows lots of fiber pattern and still retains it's original beautiful gleaming luster. Looks gorgeous! The shell is not faded and has no breaks, or cracks of any kind and is in excellent condition. The shell sits on its original black painted lounge "X"base has no re-welds or any other repairs of any kind and has the original black paint. The base has all original foot pads with no cracks in the rubber and original screws. T is no damage to the base. The highest point of the seat is 15" (38 cm) verses the dinning 18" (45.5 cm) seat hight. The chair is 26"(66cm)H x 25"(63.5cm)D x 24.5"(62cm)W. The shell still retains its original Herman Miller red label as proof of it's authenticity. The label reads: "Designed by Charles Eames Herman Miller Zeeland Michigan Shipped from Venice California". This chair is 100% correct in every way and one of the nicest Eames Lounge Am Chairs we have ever sold! The other chair showing on your left will be offered at the later time.
