This is an authentic circa 1915 to 1920 Hires Root Beer mug made by the Mettlach Company in Germany. The manufacturer is also known as Villeroy and Boch. This company is known for their high quality drinking steins etc. This mug was made for the Charles E. Hires Company. All of this information is on the bottom of the mug. I tried to photograph it for you, but it would not show up. This mug or cup is not one of the recent cheap imitations, guaranteed. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.,and stands slightly over 4 inches tall. It has the standard crazing for a piece of its age.
