Here's a great vintage and possibly antique Hires Root Beer Crate. This case is totally made of wood except the edges along the short sides. These are reinforced with metal. This case measures about 17 1/2" long, 10" tall and 11 1/2" wide. The sides read "Hires, Made with Roots, Barks, Herbs, Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." The short sides also read "24-12 Oz. Bottles" and the numbers "4-53." Three of the four sides are nice with only usual wear. The fourth long side has rub to the leg of the "H" in "Hires." There is also a 1/2" piece missing off the top edge but then it evens out around where the "i" is in "Hires." (See Pic). This crate is solid and heavy. There is some staining here and there; especially on the inside of the bottom of the case. This crate displays great and would make a nice addition to your collection.
