Vintage Hummel Figurine, “Little Hiker”, 16/1, TMK-5, Mint Condition, Large (5.75”)
This original Hummel figurine shows a little boy in very large shoes holding a long walking stick in his right hand. The figurine measures approximately 5.75" tall to the top of his hair. It has the blue, TMK-5, or last bee mark on the bottom which uses the stylized V and Bee plus "Goebel W. Germany"; see photo for an idea of what the mark looks like. Also on the base, impressed in the bottom is "16/1". I understand that 1935 was the year that the artist, Arthur Moeller, first modeled the piece. I also understand that this larger size was temporarily withdrawn from the US market in 1997. On the top of the base behind the boy is the script M.J. Hummel mark; there is no paper label on the edge of the base. I purchased this Hummel out of a collection that had been carefully preserved; it is in mint condition with no chips, cracks, stains or other signs of its age. This Hummel with its plucky little hiker would make a great addition to any Hummel collection.
