This auction is for a pair of Vintage Ice Skates. I am selling these Skates for friends who are just starting on eBay and this is the first of many items they have to sell from Circus and Ice Capades collectable items. As I understand it, this pair of skates came with a large collection of Ice Capades pieces including full music scores for orchestra, costumes and programs to mention a few. It is believed that these among other vintage skates were used in Ice Capade shows but given the age of the skates and the lifespan of the show, if that is true, then the act must have been a revival or retro type act. The skates themselves measure approximately 10 inches overall. Considering their size they must have been children's or women's skates. They have a lot of brass embellishment, unlike any that I have seen on eBay. Both the blade and the wooden foot are in good condition and the leather is as good as can be expected of and item this age. The heel and the sides of the front are decorated with a thin but attractive brass. One heal embellishment has a small tear but it does not detract from the overall beauty of these skates. The heel and the blade both bare the name Douglas Rogers & Co., Norwich Connecticut . The blades have a patent date of March 17, 1863. Nothing has been done to clean or refinish these skates. I am always apprehensive about altering the current state of collectables, leaving that to the winning bidder. If you have any questions, please E-mail me. Shipping is $9.00.
