Wonderful condition Vintage 1950's Howdy Doody doll with Pins & Books. 21'Tall . Composition head. This is not plastic like most of the later ones you tend to see.Wearing his iconic shirt and bandana. Eyes open and close perfectly, lashes are full and intact, mouth operates smoothly, clothes are all original fresh and bright in color without fading. Boots may not be original but are vintage. Truely excellent condition. Slight rub to hair color on back but otherwise excellent . Fresh, bright and clean condition including body under clothes. Marked IDEAL on back of head. The 2 Golden Books are from the same 1950's vintage (1952 & 1956) There are also 2 vintage pins from the era , one showing Howdy with Buffalo Bob. One of the 1950's "baby boomers"favorite characters. The next to last photo is from a 1999 New York Times magazine article discussing the icons of American childhood in the 50's and their influence on the "Baby Boomer " generation.I will include it just for interest. The last photo is informational only and shows the results of a Howdy Doody 50th Anniversary Auction some years back. Also included is a darling 1950's Pinocchio, also by Ideal Toy Co. (marked on back of head and on tummy tag) Head is composition and has some faint crazing and 2 v small hairline cracks on either side of back of neck. There are a few tiny patches read more
