As found at estate auction vintage iron and brass spring "C" balance, also known as a 'Mancur' or buffalo hide scale, 10 3/4" long.Frequently used by trappers and others needed to weigh heavy loads.This hand forged iron scale has a crescent or half moon shaped metal dial reading from 0 to 40 on the small scale and on the large scale0 to 300.Note the twisted split pointer allowing both sides of the dial to be read.In good original and clearly as found condition and retaining both its original hooks and rings, consistent with its circa 1900 vintage normal and expected wear including surface rust.Please view the pictures carefully as they are part of the description.
