You are bidding on a VINTAGE JACOBS DETECTOWATE HANGING SCALE 20 LB CAPACITY manufactured by the Jacobs Bros. Co., Inc. of Brooklyn, New York. The scale is open-faced, no glass. Written on the scale is "This type Jacobs DetectoWate Scale approved by the Director of Standards for Massachusetts. App.'d L-5-NYC. Penna. Ala. and N.C." Also on the front it says "Serial No. (no #) Capacity 20 lbs. by 1 oz." - See Picture. On the back side is a certification by the Dept. of Agriculture State of Texas - see Picture. The scale has a white painted metal tray 11" in diameter and is 15" high from the tray to the top of the frame. Comes with two hooks on the tray and loop and wire on the top of the scale. We believe this scale was produced in the 30's-50's. The Texas certification had to have occurred between 1951-1977 when John e. White was Commissioner.
