Guaranteed to be an original and authentic 1940's photo or send it back for a full refund. Measures 8" x 10" Excellent condition Back upper left corner of photo has "Jane Russell" written in pencil Back of photo also has an original studio description which reads:

Ten years ago Howard Hughes discovered Jean Harlow and presented her to an approving public in "Hell's Angels." Now he is preparing to launch 20 year old Jane Russell in "The Outlaw." Produced and directed by Hughes, "The Outlaw" will also introduce another Hughes' discovery, Jack Buetel, 22 year old unknown, of Dallas, Texas. The two youthful discoveries head a cast which includes Thomas Mitchell and Walter Huston. The pose in this photo was used as the model for the beautiful poster art for "The Outlaw" created by Zoe Mozert. The Outlaw is a 1943 Western movie, directed by Howard Hughes, which turned Jane Russell into one of Hollywood's movie legends. The film also starred Jack Buetel, Thomas Mitchell, and Walter Huston. Buetel plays Billy the Kid in a classic western story. Although the movie was completed in 1941, it was only released to a limited showing two years later. It didn't see a general release until 1946. The delay was a result of Hughes defying the Hays Code, which set the standard of morally acceptable content in motion pictures. By showcasing Jane Russell's breasts in both the movie and the poster artwork, The Outlaw became one of the most controversial pictures of its time. Hughes even created a new type of bra just for this movie. Even after Hughes did an "end-run" around the censors, the film was banned on a local level by several towns. This photo comes from a recently discovered collection of 1920's - 1950's photos from a former Hollywood Studio production worker who was also an employee at Grauman's Chinese Theater.
