Up for auction is a stunning vintage pink lustre lusterware teaset from Japan. The pink luster glaze on each piece features a very tiny and delicate transfer pattern of winding leaf boughs and little floral bouquets, all done in fine white lines. I have not seen this white-on-pink pattern in lusterware before, but I must admit it is absolutely beautiful, adding eye-catching interest and detail. Each piece in the set is trimmed in glittering gold on the rims, the handles, the lids, and the teapot's spout. The glaze is nice and shiny with an incredible luster. This set includes 6 cups, 6 saucers, creamer, a covered sugar, and the teapot. The teapot, which is signed "Japan," measures 6.5 inches tall and 5.6 inches across from spout to handle, and has no damage. The creamer measures 3.5 inches tall and 3.5 inches across, and is also free from any damage. The sugar measures 3.5 inches tall and 4.75 inches across at the handles, and is also free from damage. Each of the six cups is 3.25 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall to the rim, and these too are damage-free. Each of the six saucers is 4.5 inches in diameter, and these are just fine.This is a gorgeous vintage pink lustre tea service for 6 covered with a delicate and very tiny floral pattern, and in great condition, free from any chips, hairlines, glaze flakes, or restorations.
