Stunning Buddhist home shrine, or Butsudan, recently imported directly from Japan. This shrine is approximately 20-30 years old. It consists of four parts:
Base: 5" tall by 26" wide by 20" deep
Lower cabinet: 14" tall by 24" wide by 19" deep
Main cabinet: 39 1/2" tall by 24" wide by 19" deep
Top: 2 1/2" tall by 26" wide by 20" deep.
The entire assembled unitstands 61 inches, and is finished with glowing lacquer in black,burgundy and gold. The base features a single drawer, and the lower cabinet has a configuration of three drawers, which are hidden behind doors that slide up and back into the unit. The main cabinet features inner, shoji-style doors and elaborate gilded wood carvings in a Pheonix and floral motif. Opening the inner doors reveals the "palace", or inner sanctum of the shrine, which is ornately decorated with gilded wood carvings of flowers, birds, dragons and Buddhist deities. The carvings and gold leaf of the inner sanctum are in near perfect condition. T are three spaces for hanging Gohonzon (Buddhist worship scrolls) which each measure approximately 16" tall by 6" wide, though some of the height is obscured from view by the eaves of the palace carving. The only flaws are dust from its previous home and some dulling of the exterior lacquer due to age and UV exposure. T may also be some very minor dings or scratches sustained during the ocean passage.

Flat rate shipping via Fedex Ground is: $350 West of the Rockies; $450 East of the Rockies; $500 to Canada. Canadian customers are responsible for all customs duties or other importation fees. We specialize in careful packaging of these very delicate items. Local pickup at my downtown Los Angeles loft/warehouse is welcome, with no shipping or handling charges.
