Vintage Japanese Hand Painted Laquered Wood Jewelry Box This is an amazing find. The closed box in the first photo is Laquered wood with hand painted scenes. Using the key, you open the lock and lift the center which stands with fold out beveled glass mirrors and full back mirror. The side drawers open without a key and are opened front to back and lined in blue fabric. The top mirror lifts the center box and suspends it w you can use the braided tassles to open the center box. All sides and top are painted. The bottom has a key turn for the music box (which has been overwound and does not work). It could be replaced if desired. I have researched these boxes and found few of this caliber. A fabulous gift for that someone special (maybe you could place a ring in it and give her the key? Thanks for your interest.
