The Vintage Jewellery Co. Art Nouveau Silver Peacock Necklace Please see photographs below Rare genuine Art Nouveau (circa 1910) sterling silver, peacock necklace. Beautifully crafted from sterling silver this necklace displays a peacock and other silver panels, set with sparkling rose cut marcasite gemstones. The peacock is set with 6 teardrop natural carnelian gemstones and is very reminiscent of Charles Robert Ashbee's peacock designs of the same era. Charles Ashbee's work was deeply inspired by naturalistic forms such as peacocks, wild flowers and butterflies . The chain on this piece is of an exquisite quality, crafted from 4 individual linked chains, that have been soldered together in 5 sections either side of the pendant. This type of chain supports heavier necklace panels/ pendants without looking to bulky for such an elegant centerpiece. This design also prevents chains becoming tangled, an excellent sign of attention to detail. A extremely stunning and excellent quality piece from the Edwardian era. The centerpiece has a 925 marking on the back, however this has polished away to near unoticeable. The chain clasp is marked 'Sterling' this is also very hard to distinguish. All parts of the necklace have been tested and is guaranteed sterling silver. In excellent condition, not a single marcasite gem missing, perfect! read more
