Vintage 1930s Johson Fare Box Model D, the front tag has last patent date in 1914 all original and complete. This box has the early model with a rare electric motor that still works great, the bottom pulley attaches by belt to upper hand crank and kept the change moving through the machine in high traffic areas, I always just used hand crank so there is no belt. Also this rare model that has small bulb that illuminates glass top area the switch to turn on and off is seen on top next to light housing. To run motor a 12 volt battery with wire connections to plug in terminal and works great. There are 3 payment options cash which accepts pennies, nickels, and dimes, also accepts L tokens, and S tokens. Missing L token tag above the number dial and coin is still there as seen in pics. All number dials work great with appropriate coins, rare to find. The machine works great and has no mechanical issues really has not been beaten down all springs, bell, copper drop plates and change drop all work perfectly. I purchased in Chicago and assume it came from bus or street car in the city. All glass on top is in mint shape this is really a gem so rare to find a functioning early original model like this. Tag on front says No.1551. This fare box is a great conversation piece, most D models do not have the light and optional motor. If you have read more
