If you look carefully to the right of the word "Chip", you can just make out the chip on the "foot". this has been magnified quite a bit! Offered is this CUTE porcelain Josep canary pie bird for your consideration. This little guy has two chips on his beak and one really small one on it's right "foot". ( Please look over the photos! ) It has no cracks, crazing or repairs. It stands 3-3/4" tall, is 1-5/8" at it's belly, with a base of 1-1/2". It doesn't have any indications that it has ever been used. The original paper label is missing, but I don't know of any fake Josep pie birds out there. So I'm thinking this is an original. A little info on Pie Birds: Pie Funnels were used in baking pies and prevent the pie from boiling over in the oven by allowing the steam created when the fruit filling or other contents are cooking to escape from inside the pie. They also supported the pastry crust in the center of the pie, so that it did not sag in the middle.They are made from ceramic. Apparently many celebrities including Princess Diana, Ronald & Nancy Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, George & Barbara Bush, have owned or collected Pie Birds!Here's your chance to start your collection or add to an existing one! Your pie bird will be carefully packed in a 6"x6"x6" box wrapped in bubble wrap and surrounded by styrofoam "peanuts". I will insure it for the amount of the winning bid at no extra charge.
