ITEM INFORMATION

You are bidding in a no reserve auction on a large vintage U K oil or kerosene lantern.

This was purchased at an estate sale. The metal label attached to the lantern it states, “Not-Under Command”. A Google search indicates this type message was found on “any vessel restricted in its ability to maneuver.” I would guess this is from the early 20th century.

DESCRIPTION of CONDITION : (I try to describe the listed item accurately and point out its blemishes. Since t may be problems I have failed to notice, I have included a number of photos. Please examine these carefully. Ask questions before you bid. All items are Sold As Is. ) The lantern is in good condition. ( Please note, good condition means an item has issues.) It does show wear. The housing has no cracks, breaks or repairs. The lantern is rusted. It has dents. The burner is missing. The lamp has a clear glass Fresnel with a cylindrical red glass inner piece. The Fresnel has no chips, cracks or breaks. The inner liner also appears to be in excellent condition. The lantern has a label attached, “Not-Under Command Patt. 5005, Alderson & Clyde Ltd, Birmingham.” A photo shows the lantern next to a five inch soda can. The glass has the following marking on it, “A.P. 199B”. The packaged weight of the lantern is close to 20 pounds.

SIZE : (The measurements are approximate.) The lantern measures 18“high. The handle adds an additional 3” to the height. This brings the total height to approx. 21". The diameter of the base is 8".

PAYMENT : If you are considering other payment options, contact me through the eBay link, "Ask seller a question".
PayPal is accepted. PayPal eChecks must clear before shipping. Must be received within 7 days of the auction’s end. If you have any questions, contact me within three days (72 hours) of the auction’s end. If # 4 or 5 are not met, I reserve the right to cancel the sale and sell to the under bidder or relist the item.

FEEDBACK will be left after I have first received it from you. I have found this necessary to do since buyers did not always reciprocate after I had left them positive feedback.

POSTAGE:
Paid by the buyer. All items are shipped via USPS unless the item can be shipped in a less costly manner.
SHIPPING : An item purchased for up to $250 is shipped with Delivery Confirmation. An item purchased for over $250 must be shipped with signature confirmation. ( Winning bidder, await my eBay invoice before paying .) On expensive or fragile items, I may require shipping to be Priority/Registered. I will ship First Class Mail with Delivery Confirmation when a parcel weighs within the USPS weight guidelines. Media Mail (with delivery confirmation) will be used for books, tapes, cd’s and videos.
INSURANCE : Insurance is required based on the anticipated selling price of an item or its fragility. If, in my listing, I inadvertently have insurance as Optional , I reserve the right to Require it on the invoice.
