This is a vintage receiver from the Cold War era. This unit, I believe, was manufactured in 1955. Units such as this were used to alert the public and radio stations that something serious was happening, such as a nuclear attack. This radio was in storage for decades. I brought it up to power, using a Variac and it came to life. I listened to a local 1240 Kc radio station for 2 hours, with no issues. Comes with original manual and schematic. Also included is an additional set of instructions in a bound binder that was purchased from "Vintage Manuals, Inc." ( ) , which cost $11.00. The binder is not shown in the photos. Requires an external antenna - I used a 3 ft piece of wire attached to the back. Speaker is inside the unit. Runs on regular house current. The unit measure 15" X 9" X 10" and weighs 21 lb (without shipping box). There are some scratches from use but no major dents or dings. Could use an exterior cleaning. This would make an excellent addition to any radio collection. Comes from a dry, smoke-free home. Please email with any questions before bidding. and good luck.
