This little treasure was found at an estate sale and appears to be very old. The Kewpies are all hand embroidered, and some type of dye or color was used to highlight the images. The background was a light tan or ivory, but is very aged with stains. A pastel pink border was machine sewn, but it is very faded. All the stitches however, are still very tight. The focus of the four Kewpies at the top of the coverlet is to tend to the sleeping baby . . . pulling up the blanket, and making her comfortable. T are seven more Kewpies positioned around the border. I find two tiny holes measuring 1/16" in diameter, as well as a pin hole. The edge has two spots that have a 1/16" and a 1/8" tear. Again, this piece has various stains, but the Kewpies and Baby are as precious as can be. The fabric is very lightweight and measures 36" x 25", making it the perfect summer coverlet. If you like this piece, you should take a look at my other auctions running on ebay today. to check them out.
