Beautiful vintage Kigu 'Minuette' musical ladies powder compact dating back to the 1950's. Although described as used, it does not appear to have been used, and is in very good condition for age - see photo. Made by Kigu of London, England, this gold coloured oval shaped compact has an embossed design on the lid with a plain blank cartouche in the centre, and a milled-edge surround. The compact base has a scalloped edge and is fluted on the underside, together with a stamped Kigu emblem. It has a strong clip closure and is hinged at the back. Inside there is a fitted mirror, musical movement winder, powder container and screen, and has engraved engine-turned design. Overal measurements approximately 3.25" (8.5cm) x 2.75" (7cm) x 0.75" (2cm) in height. The item is complete with the original labels, powder screen and powder puff, and has always been kept in it's black satin and beige and gold brocade pouch. It has a Thorens Swiss movement (La Ronde) and plays a lovely tune. There is the original instruction label for playing, and also the original cardboard box with Kigu emblem and stock number. Cardboard box is a bit aged from the passing of time, but nevertheless does not detract from the item. A lovely vintage object for an appreciative collector. Thanks for viewing.
