VINTAGE KIMBERLY TEISCO MAY QUEEN GUITAR W/ORIG CASE !! S/N 353733 (ca. 1968) This guitar is all original, complete, has working electronics, and includes the original case (hard to find). The guitar is in very good condition for its age. It will need strings and a setup. The guitar has the sound you would expect from a May Queen The guitar has some scuffs and scrapes, as can be seen in the photos, and has you might expect from a 40+ year old guitar. The original case has some scuffs and a few small areas of wear in the lining - as per the pictures. The headstock has a small vertical line near the tip - possibly indicating a repair in the past. This is very common as the tip runs with the grain of the headstock and is prone to cracking. Many were converted to a rounded headstock when the tip piece was lost, but this guitar is as it was originally. Teisco is a Japanese company that began manufacturing guitars in 1948 but eventually developed financial difficulties and was purchased by Kawai in 1967. Kawai-made Teisco models for 1968 included the oddly shaped May Queen. This Kimberly-branded model is thought to have been sold in the U.S. through the Lafayette Company catalog.
