This is a Vintage Kimcraft (Independence Missouri) handmade Benjamin Franklin doll, dressed in brown period clothing. His face, arms and legs are clay, while the rest of him seems to be made from stuffed cloth. His arms and legs are jointed. His belly area is "extra stuffed"."His clothing is tailored, and his clothing is made by hand and detailed with precision. The kimcraft doll makers went to great lengths to ensure historic accuracy of every detail to preserve the relevance and merit of each issue". He wears brown knickers and a felt brown waistcoat, with lace trim at the neck and sleeves, and fur trim around the collar; also wearing a vest, with beads for buttons. His shoes are painted on, and his face is painted. He comes complete with his "butler doll stand" made of metal, and a printed name tag held in a separate slotted piece of wood. The woman who owned these dolls in the 1940's used them as display dolls as she gave talks about history - from the revolution, to the civil war, and the constitution and American presidents.I have several other of these dolls up for auction this week and will be happy to combine shipping. 9 inches tall and great condition.
