Up for auction is a brushed aluminum Citicorp / Citibank logo. The Citicorp logo was referred to as the "compass rose" and was a stylized representation of a circle showing the principal directions printed on a map or chart. These were cast of heavy gauge aluminum for Citibank branches; they were typically mounted to the right of the marquee branch name on the outside of the branch - see the photos. When Citigroup merged with Travelers / Salomon Smith Barney in 1998, the company adopted a new logo; all branches were rebranded and the old logos were put in storage. This one probably "flew" over a branch in the New York Metro area, home to Citi's headquarters. It measures 14.75" high by 18" wide by 2.75" deep and is 5/16' thick. It weighs 12 lbs., 5.6 oz.. There are four threaded bolt holes on the reverse side for mounting on wood or masonry. This item would look great mounted in a large den, living room, bar, game room, office or even a back yard - it's unaffected by the elements. I know of one former Citi employee that incorporated one when he built a stone fireplace. Overall in good shape as the pictures show. There is a small scratch on the upper left side - see photo - and a few minor scuffs due to weathering. This is a very rare piece of American history.
