This is a vintage used cast iron tetsubin, used for boiling water over an open fire in Japan. This one has a beautiful rough beaded like finish. The matching lid has a flower bud like knob. This one has some light rust along the top edge and, ther is some rust inside bottom and the outside bottom. It still looks useful and will of course make an excellent display item. One side of the spout is marked with Kanji characters (which probably identifies the maker). The pot measures 4" tall without handle and 8" with handle! It is approximately 7 & 4/4" inches wide back of pot to tip of spout. This tetsuin weighs almost 6 lbs! A unique piece of Japanese cookware! Sales to the U.S. only.and buy with confidence.
