This auction is for a LARGE inlaid musical jewelry box measuring 14 1/2" wide, 9" deep and about 4 3/4" high. This is a great box made of burl wood with satinwood and ebony inlay (I think). It's lined with green velvet with three compartments on the inside and the middle compartment holds a large Swiss Reuge music box. Don't know what the name of the tune is, but it plays wonderfully when you lift the lid. This box has a paper label on the bottom that says MADE IN ITALY and it also has the original key. It's in super condition. T's one "ding" measuring about 1/4" long on the back edge (see picture) and it needs swept out a bit to tidy up the inside velvet. Valentine's Day is right around the corner and this great vintage musical jewelry box would make a wonderful gift, or buy it as a place to store your own precious treasures. Hello everyone! OK, I played the music box for a friend of mine who is a classical pianist and he tells me that the tune is a Brahm's waltz. My friend told me that Brahms wrote a series of waltzes and he doesn't remember this one's exact name, but it's the most popular one. Hope this helps and good luck!
