Up for auction is this large, beautiful lighted Pabst Blue Ribbon sign in the shape of a blue ribbon, that I believe dates back to the early 1950's. Sign has nice blue color and a fine "3-D" effect with the molded plastic front. This is a rather large Pabst ribbon sign, measuring 18" x 14 1/2" x approx 3" deep; and is lit by four 15 watt appliance-type bulbs. Sign is a very thick, heavy molded plastic with a brushed-metal backing. Overall condition is very good for something this age; just a few cracks in the plastic, which look to be on the inside, as they don't extend to the outer skin (all I can think of is that there are several laminated layers to the plastic, which accounts for this effect -- See photo #4 for the largest crack -- and they don't seem to compromise the sign's structural integrity). Access for relamping is a hinged door on the back (see photo); back also has vent holes & opening for mounting on a nail or screw. Has a pull chain on/off switch with hangs down below sign. Electrical cord is very long and consists of original (looks to be in good shape) plus newer extension someone spliced in (which is in excellent condition). Inside has a old-tyme sticker which says "Blue Ribbon Displays. The Cincinnati Advertising Products Co." Back has a union made label, and a decal which says "Display No. 2137 Volts 110-115 Watts read more
