An excellent example of the fine craftsmanship of the early 1900s, this rocker/rocking chair is from the Limbert company, with Grand Rapids and Holland (Michigan, I assume) listed on the company stamp. The slats on bottom supporting the cushion bear the company stamp, and interestingly, when looking through the slats, there is a tag detailing the proper care and treatment of the cushion, Please see the photos. I did not take the cushion out, and the photos show as much of the tag as I could see. Also quite interesting is an attached tag which seems to be an original work order for the cushioning. Its reads: "Upholstering Department, Chalres P. Limbert Co., for C.A. Hoitt Co., Manchester N.H." Then there are lines for Article No. (stamped 822); Order No. (stamped 2914); Finish No. (stamped No. 4 Fumed); and finally Leather No. (stamped No. 64 Goat) ... so assuming the cushion cover is goat leather. And FYI, there is still a C.A. Hoitt Co, furniture store in Manchester, N.H. Probably also explains how I acquired this chair at an auction in Maine. The chair has 5 vertical slats on the back and is in very good condition. There is some staining on the cushion, and a tear of about two inches on the seam on each side (shown in photos). The chair measures 28.75 inches high, 19.5 inches wide across the front, 16.5 inches across the top, about read more
