Vintage 1950's, this clever set includes 8 surprizing linen cocktail napkins appliqued on 2 sides. The front shows a variety of women in styles from French influenced places around the world and through the ages, but on the back. . . the common thread (or should I say, no thread) shows up. Each appliqued figure is seen from the back sans garment. At 5" x 6-3/4", and with a double thickness of linen, each side of each appliqued figure is hand stitched in place, and the accents to hair and accessories are hand embroidered. Though t is browning age spots on some of the pieces, t is still a wonderfully fresh feel to the 8 cocktail napkins, the appliques are all bright and strong, and the cream color linen is a great offset.
