This is a 16 piece vintage Lionel "O" gauge train car set which was purchased between 1949-1956 by my father with the exception of a few pieces that appear to have been purchased in the 1960's. Their condition vary from OK to fair. They were stored in boxes for over 40 years. My little brother played with many of these in the 1960's. Many of these cars will show the evidence of an 8 year old playing with train cars. These pieces are in fair to poor condition and some could be used as spare parts. T are no tracks, motors, power sources, or accessories, and this set is sold as is. I know nothing about old toy trains and have done my best to identify and describe this set to the best of my ability. The information in the descriptions below was found on various Lionel websites. I can tell you if the couplings and wheels are t, and t appears to be devices that were activated magnetically, but I have no idea if anything works as intended. The pieces are described as follows: Model pw-6014 FRISCO BOXCAR built in 1957, has non- opening double door, type I box car, white plastic body with heat stamped lettering. Model 6465 SUNOCO TANK CAR- (I have two) The tank car was a staple of most post-war sets. These cars had magnetic couplers (I have no idea if they still do!) and the Sunoco logo was rubber stamped in three colors on a bright silver finish. These were introduced in 1948 and produced through 1956. The Type I car has six lines of tech data on the right side, ending in the word "tank". The number 6465 is rubber stamped on the frame bottom in white. On this particular model the plastic silver is a bit worn, the lettering is clearly visible but signs of fading have taken hold. Of the two tank cars, one is nicer looking than the other. Postwar 3494-150 OPERATING BOXCAR, blue with gray stripe. These were made between 1948-1958. It says Eagle, Missouri Pacific Line and has six lines of technical data on right side. Car only has one working set of yellow doors on one side of the car. On the other side of the car, the doors are missing. T is a magnetically operated spring-loaded worker inside of this box car and he appears to swivel from inside the car to the edge of the car. (This I can do manually, so it would seem that it would work.) Model 6130 A.T. & S.F. (Santa Fe) WORK CABOOSE has red exterior with white graphics, short plastic smokestack, black frame and white lettering and graphics on the tool bin, caboose and frame. This model was made in the 1950's. The black frame is worn but the lettering is visible. Model 6530 FIRE AND SAFETY TRAINING BOXCAR circa 1959/60. This is a red car with black door guide (only one side the other is missing) and a black brake wheel. In addition t is white lettering and decorations. Model 3472 AUTOMATIC REFRIGERATED MILK CAR Set dated 1950-1953. Originally this was a 2 component set, but what I have is only the actual milk car. This somewhat heavy model is white with black lettering, "AUTOMATIC REFRIGERATED MILK CAR" which is all readable, but somewhat faded and 9 rows of tech data on the right hand side. The plastic doors appear to be spring loaded and will open. One set of doors appear to be very good. On the other side, one of the doors seems to "hanging on by the Grace of God." Inside t is a milk man, and if you push he will come out on the other side. He appears to be motorized or magnetic, but I am not sure. T is also a little swinging door at the top of the car and I have no idea what it is for. Model 6014 SHORT RED "BABY RUTH CANDY" BOXCAR lettering on sides along with 9 rows of technical data. This car was made in 1956 and appears to be in good condition. The red color is vilbrant and the white letters are faded, partially rubbed off. Model 3559 DUMP CAR dated between 1946-1949.
