VINTAGE LRG BRASS MARITIME NAUTICAL SHIPS LANTERN OIL BURNING Offered is this vintage large brass nautical ships cargo lantern. Used to light the halls and passageways of ships in days gone by - but still a very nice item to have on hand if you lose power - or just as a nautical decorative item. This lantern is quite heavy and stands approx 16 1/2" high by 6" wide NOT including brass carrying handle. Heavy brass handle extends an additonal 4" above top of lamp. Very sturdy handle with circle at top Attached to sides of lantern. Lantern also has heavy rings at top and bottom on sides for additional stability. Large vented chimney on top. Inside is a WORKING oil lamp complete with adjustable wide wick and glass globe. Wick has been used SO shows brown at top but still usable. New wicking is available at any hardware store and Brass oil tank fills easily. Top of lamp base near wick opening has TM imprinted. 4 heavy glass panels complete outside of lamp with each having two brass protective strips running from top to bottom to protect glass panels. Lamp has metal closures on top that snaps in place. PLEASE NOTE - There was originally a small metal slide in round piece with chain attached that got lost during our last move. Doesn't have anything to do with closure - as lamp closure still snaps in place - just missing . I can find read more
