Up for auction is an old old Ludwig & Ludwig drum set, manufactured in Elkhart, Indiana, and I'm guessing in 1949, as two of the drums have 4904, the snare, and 4905, the bass, stamped on the inside of the shells. The shells are actually in pretty decent shape, and appear to be nice and round. The shame of it is, that someone cut the shell of the mounted tom, so there is not a reinforcing ring on the bottom, they remove all of the badges as well... fools!!!! The drums are sized as follow: Bass 14" X 24"/ Snare 6-1/2" X 14"/ and mounted tom 7" X 13". Pretty much all of the hardware is rusty.. As you can see from the photos, the shells are covered with, what I have to believe was the white pearl finish, but has long since yellowed to a nice vintage shade. Heads are all in pretty poor condition, but will still deliver sound. Also as pictured, I have an old hi hat stand that is identified as a Ludwig, but has been wired to to pull rod to make it work, and the bass pedal is fairly decent, and still works. This set is in a condition that it needs TLC to make it look decent again, but is still a classic among vintage drums. Looking for a fun project to create a classic gem, this is it.
